ON-Q Pump
The ON-Q system contains a small pump that will continuously deliver local anesthetic via small catheters to relieve pain in the surgical area. As the medication gets delivered, the pump will progressively get smaller and lighter. The ON-Q pump will function to relieve pain for 2-5 days. Once empty, the small catheters can be easily removed by a medical professional in the office. Studies examining the ON-Q pump system show reduced use of opioid medication, better pain control, and an improved recovery. Patients requiring overnight stays in the hospital may be able to be discharged home sooner.
