Minimally-invasive bunion surgery arose in an attempt to make surgery less painful for patients, while still correcting the alignment...
Lapiplasty®
Lapiplasty® is the name given to a system of bunion correction with specific plates made by Treace Medical Concepts. This system involves an approach further back on the foot, in an effort to change the alignment of the entire great toe ray. A patented tool is used to realign the great toe, and then two plates are applied to fix the joint at the bottom of the great toe metatarsal bone. The proponents of this technique focus on the 3D correction of the bunion deformity, which they feel is often lacking with other techniques or systems. This system, like the others above, allows for earlier weight-bearing than traditional bunion surgery.
