Dr. Smith, a native of Wichita, KS, earned a bachelor of science degree at Rockhurst University in Kansas City. After working briefly as an analytical chemist, he completed his medical degree at the Kansas City University College of Medicine. Next, Dr. Smith completed his residency in General Surgery at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. While there, he participated in many research projects in the field of trauma and plastic surgery. He received serval awards including for his research and education of medical students. Currently Dr. Smith is completing fellowship training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. He plans to pursue a career involving reconstruction of traumatic and oncologic wounds, including breast reconstruction and microsurgery.
